In a move that would bring us our first Hispanic justice, a daughter of Puerto Rican parents and a product of a Bronx housing project, Princeton and Yale educated Sonia Sotomayor was nominated to the Supremem Court by President Obama this morning. The New York Times ran a pretty thorough piece on her today, including a photo slideshow. And you can see a clip of the speech she gave this morning when she accepted the nomination here (watch out, she gets a little teary when she gets to the part about her mom). In it, she says "It is a daunting experience to be here," a sentiment so appropriate for a justice.
