The ten gallon hat will be hung upon a peg for the rest of the week while I motor to Motor City, but the nattering should re-ensue come next week.

In the meantime, here are a few fun reads to enjoy.

The first controllable nanotech gear has been created. Very cool. Now maybe they can get to work on my idea for a molecular steam engine.

My favorite quotation from this one: " The scientists at IMRE solved this scientific conundrum by proving that the rotation of the molecule-gear could be well-controlled by manipulating the electrical connection between the molecule and the tip of a Scanning Tunnelling Microscope while it was pinned on an atom axis."

I could have told them that if they'd only asked. Amateurs.

A mysterious artificial cave dating to 1 A.D. has been discovered in Israel.

And most intriguing, here's a story of a little girl who doesn't age properly. She's 16 years old but looks and acts more like 16 months. It seems like a mad scientist-style mystery whose solution could provide leaps in understanding of the ageing process. One certainly hopes the little girl can be freed of her curious condition.

And with that, I'm away for the Midwest. Cuisine, thy name is mayonnaise!

Hope to be back soon with much to report.
