As of Monday citizen petitioners had gathered about 1,000 signatures toward their goal of about 1,800 to place a nonbinding public opinion advisory question on the ballot regarding the proposed landfill expansion, according to Mimi Odgers who is organizing the drive. Check out Water Not Waste for more information. Download the petition here PDF. Odgers encourages people to mail in gathered signatures as soon as possible so that they may be certified by the city. The deadline is September 21. Petitions can be mailed to P.O. Box 84, Northampton, MA 01061-0084.
