If you prefer your live music to address the political, you'd be wise to drop by the St. James Church in Greenfield on Martin Luther King Day. There you'll find two duos who've devoted themselves to social activism as well as making music. Valley residents Charlie King and Karen Brandow have made this event (dubbed "Duopalooza") an annual occurrence, and this year they're joined by New York-based Kim and Reggie Harris.

The proceeds from this musical evening go to the Northampton-based National Priorities Project, an organization devoted to analyzing the federal budget to present precise information about just how our tax dollars are really spent.

Jan. 15, $10/advance, $15/door, 7:30 p.m., St. James Church, 8 Church St., Greenfield, (413) 584-9556 or www.nationalpriorities.org for more info.
