The search for the elusive Higgs-Boson particle continues unabated, but a sidecar idea has arisen among phsyicists at the Tevatron, a lower energy U.S. particle accelerator that’s been eclipsed by the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland.

It’s a fascinating glimpse into how esoteric physics has become that, without having discovered a single Higgs-Boson, these physicists believe it’s likely that there isn’t just one kind. They say there are five versions of the particle. The role of such particles in the Standard Model of physics is nothing less than providing mass for everything that exists.
