That’s it. All day yesterday and today celebrity nerds tweeted about ComicCon in San Diego and made me jealous, and after this latest news, I’ve decided. I am going next year.

Because everyone knows superheroes are gay—what with their tights and pectorals and “sidekicks”—Westboro Baptist Church leader Fred Phelps convinced his crazies to stage one of their infamous protests outside ComicCon today. But they were thwarted by an evil gang of cosplayers, Jedis, trekkies, anime girls and robots.

Met with chants of “What do we want? GAY SEX! When do we want it? NOW!” and dozens of ironic and clever signs, the WBC protesters were no match for the counter-protesting fans.
