Many years ago, back in San Francisco, a Brazillian friend and I were watching, although I can’t for the life of me remember why, the Republican National Convention, on TV. Not even sure if that’s what it was, but regardless, Texas governor GWB was speaking. He wasn’t taken seriously by anoyone outside of Texas at that pont, and there was no talk of any greater ambition than his current office, was the butt of jokes. When he got done speaking, Eugenio matter-of-factly stated, “This is your next president.” I laughed, then rambled about how he coultn’t even run a baseball team, how he made Dan Quayle look sharp as a tack, that there is no way, just no way.

Lately, it’s seeming more and more that a the wish of a large percentage of Americans for a president stupider than they are could reach new heights. Last I heard, Sarah Palin is the most popular Republican in the land. The movement to deny “anchor babies” citizenship is actually getting a little traction. Nationally respected talk show hosts shout “Nigger nigger nigger” on the air and may lose advertisers but might just as likely gain listeners, and Palin rolls her eyes at a teacher, in an oh-you’re-one-of-them–that-explains-it gesture that will likely win her more supporters than criticism.

Send a teacher friend that link! Hell, send anyone who doesn’t disdain though the damn link. Yes, it’s totally unfair to judge someone for their every gesture, which is exactly why we must begin to do just that kind of thing, and NOW. Not thrilled with the first couple years of the Obama presidency? Consider the alternatives and join me in fighting dirty fight once again, and start NOW. Winning justifies the means. If you disagree, then stick to the high road, but get ready for the “yoobetcha” presidency, and the blame for letting it happen.
