INSPIRATIONAL DUO MARY MARY HELPS PILLSBURY LAUNCH FROZEN GRANDS!® BISCUIT SANDWICHES AND EGG SCRAMBLES™

Multi-Grammy Award-Winning Duo Meets Commuters, Fans and Media
During Chicago “Doughboy™ Breakfast Boogie” Launch Event

Product, Contest Launches Follow Success of Latest Album, SOMETHING BIG

(New York, NY –September 13, 2011) My Block/Columbia Records multi-Grammy Award-winning inspirational recording act Mary Mary announces an exciting new partnership with Pillsbury to launch new Frozen Pillsbury® Grands!® Biscuit Sandwiches and Pillsbury® Egg Scrambles™. The announcement was held Monday August 29, 2011, at the “Doughboy™ Breakfast Boogie” event in Chicago, where Mary Mary was on hand to help unveil the brand’s new quick and delicious frozen breakfasts made with fresh, quality ingredients like real egg, meat, cheese and vegetables.

Mary Mary, comprised of real-life sisters Erica and Tina Campbell, is the featured artist behind the catchy jingle, “Brand New Morning,” accompanying the new Pillsbury Frozen Breakfast TV spots, which began airing nationwide in September. The advertising campaign will be handled by Burrell Communications, a full-service marketing communications company long acknowledged as a leader in understanding consumer behavior in the African-American and “Yurban” (youth urban) markets.

On Monday morning, August 29, at Chicago’s Union Station, the duo joined the beloved Pillsbury Doughboy for the thrilling kick-off event, during which morning commuters received a complimentary taste of the new Pillsbury Grands! Biscuit Sandwiches and were treated to a special dance performed by 14 Pillsbury Doughboys.

“As busy professionals and even busier moms, we know that sometimes it’s a challenge to have a hot and satisfying breakfast in the morning,” the duo shared. “Our children come first so although it’s challenging, it’s not impossible to start the day off right when you have friends like Pillsbury there to help you out.”

Yep, a special dance by giant doughboys. Ah, the wonders of the “developed” world. I’m not sure who to feel sorriest for–the people in doughboy costumes, the dance troupe who accompanies them (without being able to hide their identities), Mary Mary, or the poor working stiff who had to write this and try to make it sound awesome and exciting.

This event alone is enough to prove just how tapped into the “Yurban” market these folks are–I think any day now, we’ll see “Yurbans” wandering around with biscuit tins in their back pockets.

Though the event itself was certainly a textbook example of the word “thrilling.” If by thrilling you mean shabby, melancholy and uncomfortable. It’s also worth asking–why is the Jolly Green Giant sidekick guy there? Can’t these folks at least keep their corporate pantheon straight?:
