Matt Szafranski, the man behind the blog Western Mass Politics & Insight, will be speaking about the upcoming election and city politics tonight at 7 p.m. at Sal’s Bakery, at 513 Belmont Ave.
The bakery’s owner, Sal Circosta, has a vested interest in next month’s election: he’s running for the Ward 3 City Council seat, against incumbent Melvin Edwards. But his interest in city politics and culture extend beyond his own candidacy: Circosta has turned his business into a salon of sorts, holding regular public forums with elected officials, candidates and others involved in the city’s civic life, from members of the Springfield Police Department to representatives from MGM.
Szafranski will discuss this year’s City Council and School Committee races, then take questions from the audience.
If you want a sneak peek of what to expect tonight, check out the many posts Szafranski has written about the election and campaigns, including this one about Circosta’s candidacy.
