The Greater Springfield NAACP chapter holds its annual banquet tonight at Chez Josef in Agawam.
The banquet’s theme is “All in for Justice and Equality.” In an announcement of the event, the local chapter notes its work in area including “education, health disparities, voting rights, racial profiling and other social justice issues.”
Dr. Charles Williams, a professor of psychology at Drexel University, will be the featured speaker. Williams is the founding director of Drexel’s Center for the Prevention of School-aged Violence, and his work focuses on child welfare issues including bullying, support for children in the foster system, and achievement by children of color and special-needs kids.
The banquet begins with a social hour at 6 p.m., with dinner starting at 6:45. For more information, go to the chapter’s website.
