Don’t Stop Believin’
in Classical Music
The Springfield Symphony Orchestra will kick off the new season on Oct. 3 with an opening night reception at the Springfield Sheraton Hotel. Following the party, the orchestra will perform works by Dvořák, Sibelius, and Bartok.
This fall season, the symphony has prepared two shows: Faithfully, a tribute to Journey — yes, that Journey — in October and the Haydn Trumpet Concerto in November. In Faithfully: The Music of Journey, listeners will be entertained by a classical twist on the band’s classics “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Faithfully,” “Open Arms,” “Wheel in the Sky” and more. The Haydn Trumpet Concerto in November featuring soloists Thomas Bergeron on trumpet and Nancy Dimock on English horn.
The orchestra has been playing since the 1940s, and with 80 members, it’s the largest orchestra in the state outside of Boston.
