Meet-Cute Art

For this year’s Full Disclosure Festival — a weekend of public installation art, performance art, and art to be named — each participating artist was paired with a researcher and sent on a blind date. The point of the meeting was for the artist to get a sense of what the historian or scientist does and then turn that analytical passion into art. A centerpiece of the festival, which is presented by Eggtooth Productions, is Emma Ayres’ new production of The Water Project, a music theater piece adapted/inspired by Letting Swift River Go by Jane Yolen about the expropriation of towns to create the Quabbin Reservoir. It will be performed each night on the fourth floor of Artsblock. There will also be poetry readings, a “secret history” booth, and an “uncertainty cube.”
