Hoop Dreams

This summer is pretty much guaranteed to be a scorcher. The Valley’s best way to scratch that b-ball itch while enjoying some air conditioning is probably the Basketball Hall of Fame’s annual 60 Days of Summer, which provides 60 consecutive days of family-oriented interactive events. Through Aug. 30, visitors can catch giveaways, speakers, autograph signings, jugglers, trick dribblers, magicians, mascots, and more. On Saturday this week, Hall of Famer and former ABL and WNBA star player Teresa Edwards makes a special appearance. Sunday and Monday are contest days, full of door prizes and gift certificates. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the WINS For Life skills clinic teaches the fundamentals of basketball, plus core values like character and teamwork.

60 Days of Summer: Beginning Friday July 1. Most appearances begin at 1 p.m. All events are free with museum admission ($16-$23). Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Springfield. (877) 446-6752, hoophall.com.
