Mental for Basemental

I’ve been a reader of the Advocate for many years and I just wanted to say that I have really been appreciating Will Meyer’s Basemental column over the last several weeks. I’ve been to some of these basements and DIY venues he’s writing about, and it is really good to see this side of the local music scene covered — usually ignored by the IHEG/Signature Sounds powers that be.

I met Will at one of these shows several months ago. In the times I’ve talked him I have gotten the impression that he is someone who possesses an uncompromising integrity and dedication to doing the right thing. This is rare in people and I would honestly like to see more of his writing, with Basemental as a weekly column or branching out into other areas. I think the quality, depth, and thoughtfulness of his writing would probably be benefit to the Advocate.
