Taylor Made

It’s just a hop, skip, and a flying leap from Manhattan to the Berkshires, at least for the Paul Taylor Dance Company. The group has been trucking up shows to the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center for nine years running now, but the good thing about a creative bunch with decades of experience shaping the world of modern dance — legendary founder Paul Taylor has been dancing and choreographing since 1954 — is that both old and new works are exceptionally well-done and fun, particularly when paired together. On Friday and Saturday nights, the company performs a new work called Dilly Dilly, which finds physical ways to bring last century’s folk songs to life. On Saturday afternoon: a matinee of the 1983 dance piece Snow White, which is, naturally, for all ages.

Paul Taylor Dance Company: Friday at 8 p.m.; Saturday at 3 and 7:30 p.m. $15-$65. Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center, 14 Castle St., Great Barrington. (413) 528-0100, mahaiwe.org.
