T’were Well it Were Done Quickly

Any back-row slackers in the house? Remember wishing your high school humanities professor would just get on with it and fast-forward to Act V of whichever godforsaken Shakespeare text you were all reading out loud, line by line? It’s a shame the frantic fools of the Reduced Shakespeare Company, an American touring troupe, didn’t make it to your classroom in time. Silverthorne Theatre Company, based in Turners Falls, takes up that wacky mantle this weekend to perform two nights of Reduced’s The Compleat Works of Wllm Shkspr (Abridged), which double-doubles down on all 37 of the Bard’s plays at breakneck speed. It’s like flipping through basic cable late at night — bad hair, cheap sets, snarky soliloquies, and few clowns too many.

The Compleat Works of Wllm Shkspr (Abridged): Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. $17-$19. The Arts Block, 289 Main St., Greenfield. (413) 768-7514, silverthornetheater.org.
