Cooley Dickinson Hospital
Best Birthing center
For the fourth straight year, Valley residents have chosen Cooley Dickinson Childbirth Center as the best of its kind in the area. The center has been designated a “Baby-Friendly” facility by Baby-Friendly USA, a program led by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) that certifies hospitals as encouraging breastfeeding best-practices. The maternal newborn nurses emphasize parent-child skin-to-skin contact and bonding time. There is access to pediatricians 24 hours a day while in the maternity ward. The Childbirth Center also offers certified midwives. “Midwives partner with pregnant people and their families to promote optimal health in pregnancy and childbirth, with a focus on personalized care, education and informed choice,” according to the Cooley Dickinson website.
