Mmm, candy. Sweeties is a sugar lover’s heaven. The back wall is a colorful display acrylic dispensers packed with small candies to fill by-the-pound bags. The glass cases are lined with chocolate confections that are almost too pretty to eat. Almost. There’s also the world’s largest Gummy Bears, weighing in at a sweet five pounds. After 37 years in business, you’d think there isn’t much new in candy. But manager Lucas Humann says that’s not the case. Recently, they have expanded their line of vegan chocolates. There’s so much to like at Sweeties. “People like the quality of what we carry and the people who work here are great,” says Humann. “People just like the vibe of the place.” A delicious vibe, at that.
