Dave Ratner started out selling pet food from the trunk of his car. Now he’s got six busy stores, five of which are in the Pioneer Valley. Agawam store manager Miranda Treat says she’s never worked at a place like Dave’s. “It’s a tight knit community here,” she says, and she thinks the secret to Dave’s success is his determination to put the right people in the right places. “Our customer service and our product knowledge is amazing.” It’s no wonder Dave’s is top dog in the Pet Supply Store category; it’s all about the customers.
