When you visit Atkins Farms it’s hard to imagine it as a little farm stand by the side of the road. But that’s how it all began back in 1962. Marketing Manager Jen Adams says that’s one of the reasons for Atkins’ success. “Besides customer service, I think because we’ve grown gradually makes a difference. We started as a farm stand, then we added the bakery and the deli. Over the past 50 years, our expansion has been gradual.” Best known for delicious fresh produce and the undeniably delectable cider donuts, Atkins also caters to special diets including gluten free and ketogenic-centered plans. And Atkins continues to grow. “We recently added a second store in North Amherst — it’s like a mini Atkins Farms,” Adams says. “And there’s an ice cream shop for summer.” Sounds like the Atkins’ satellite store is going to do just fine.
