Valley residents have chosen Cooley Dickinson Childbirth Center as the best of its kind in the area. The center has been designated a “Baby-Friendly ” facility by Baby-Friendly USA, a program led by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) that certifies hospitals as encouraging breastfeeding best-practices. The maternal newborn nurses emphasize parent-child skin-to-skin contact and bonding time. There is access to pediatricians 24 hours a day while in the maternity ward. The Childbirth Center also offers certified midwives.
