October is a witching time, and when better to celebrate the life and the death of the master of horror himself, Edgar Allen Poe? Vintage and contemporary artwork is displayed in honor of the renowned writer's bicentennial year in A Dream Within A Dream: Works of Mystery and Imagination, which features macabre selections by artists including Ben Banville, Christin Couture, Henry Clarke, Mary Teichman, Trina Sears Sternstein and many others. In addition, the exhibit includes a piece of controversial contemporary work by Hermann Nitsch, whose multimedia work demonstrates ritualized violence in many forms. In addition to these ghastly depictions, Annabel Lee presents animation, the haunting, melancholy tones of Theremin music and Poe ephemera galore.
