Masters of satire and mockery, bouffons were the jesters of the French Renaissance. Normally marginalized as ugly, disfigured or mad, through performance they regained the upper hand, ridiculing their audiences to entertain. Award-winning performer Eric Davis revives this tradition in his one man show The Red Bastard. He performs as a clown, but the audience is the joke. Davis has performed for Cirque de Soleil's Quidam, is a founder of the New York Clown Theatre Festival, and teaches workshops internationally.
