The recycling and reuse of found materials is increasingly popular as many people attempt to cut costs and go green in the midst of a turbulent economy. For sculptor Michael Zelehoski, this practice isn’t just a means to save a few pennies and help the planet; it’s a form of artistic expression. In his new solo exhibition (De)constructions, Zelehoski shares several large-scale works that he has assembled from found materials. Among these are his “Human Lobster Trap,” a reconstructed architectural storage rack from the Copperworks in Pittsfield, and a completely rebuilt bed and grand piano.
