It’s a question that resonates all the more in the wake of the recent kidnapping of more than 300 schoolgirls in Nigeria: “Despite advances, mothers, women, and girls still face obstacles to achieving all they are capable of, worldwide and here at home. How do education, reading, and writing empower girls and women and have their voices be heard?” ask the organizers of a Springfield Sister Stories event, to be held tomorrow at the Mason Square Library at 1 p.m.
The event will feature authors Gwenn Meredith, who writes about the role of women in the Arab world, and Maryam Sullivan, an American Muslim poet, playwright and novelist. It will include a panel discussion, conversation and light refreshments.
