It’s kind of rushed around here. The ups and downs—the life gets lifey—check, that’s happening.
Yesterday, though, I took a completely unexpected eighteen-minute forty-second break to watch author and illustrator Jarrett Krosoczka’s TEDTalk, which he gave at Hampshire College last month. Essentially, the talk was about the power of imagination—and importance of having people believe in you. And of course, he talked a bit about Lunch Ladies.
I had other things to do at that moment, things I ended up doing about 20 minutes later. I’m so glad I took that time. I carried the sense of having been uplifted with me all day long.
Oddly, I’d been thinking of him some this week, because my hair is at a stage—this is short hairspeak, I believe—where it resembles his a bit.
Over the weekend, the grownups only went to the big tenth anniversary bash at the Carle Museum. I was reminded of how delighted Bobbie Carle was by this snippet, which I think was written on a post-it note: “If you build it, they will come.” Truer words were never scribbled.
