It’s hard for me to write the short version of things.
Take yesterday.
To find three good things is easy. There were plenty more than three yesterday. And with almost every good thing embedded is more to the story.
Sometimes, that more to the story part adds to how good the good thing is.
For example, a good thing yesterday was blueberry picking in the hot sun with friends-like-family. I loved bringing my camera along.
One of the best parts was the fact that we’re at the beginning of the ripe berries so more picking lies ahead.

There were annoyances—plenty. Primarily my dear hubby and I would like to have five minutes together on a more regular basis and that just didn’t and couldn’t happen yesterday, like so many other days. In this regard the chaotic over-fullness of our lives is a little too much.
Mostly, though, the day included lots of good things.
In the morning, I set out on a walk with three kids and we ran into friends. We all walked to the farmers’ market together. Later, an old babysitter and friend appeared to reclaim boxes of precious and formerly precious stuff before he moves to Iowa. We hadn’t seen him in years. It was so easy that the only surprise was how all that time had lapsed. Even the kids—nearly a lifetime smaller when they’d last seen him—instantly connected, again, as if time hadn’t exactly passed. Although it is true that Lucien is not longer into trucks.

The day was capped off by my officiating a wedding amongst butterflies. In a sentence, the match is one of a storied man and a bubbly woman—both incredibly capable people. She made the cupcakes. Not pictured: her dress; she made that, too. Also not pictured: their baby; they made her too—and she’s divine.
My eldest helped to set up the sound equipment for the DJ at the wedding. So, he got to see me in action. He and I dug being on the same “team.”

Friday night, this is how we found Lucien, post “funky day” at camp. Yeah, no explanation necessary; he is having the time of his life there.
