Aaron Russo was good at getting Mad as Hell (the name of his TV pilot) and stirring up the muck. The deceased Hollywood producer (The Rose, Trading Places) had a penchant for taking on the government and corporations. Russo's outspoken libertarian leanings were the lynchpin of a campaign for governor of Nevada in 1998 (in which he lost, but got more of the popular vote than the incumbent) and a failed presidential bid in 2004. In lieu of winning public office, Russo decided to make a film to air his opinions. The result was America: Freedom to Fascism, a politically charged expos? of the IRS that also raises questions about RFIDs (Radio Frequency Identification Chips), voting machines and national ID cards.
