Fortunately for the headbangers of Holyoke, the Waterfront Tavern plays host to great local metal, hardcore and rock all-ages shows (Scott Lee brings bands to the back room) and even acoustic and Celtic bands (in the bar proper).
The Waterfront is situated just off Main Street on the Connecticut River. During the early hours of the evening, when the dust is just starting to be kicked up, the kitchen serves up a hearty dose of everything from nachos and wings to sandwiches and steaks. The tavern has a hefty selection of alcohol.
If the sweat lodge-like barroom gets to be a tad too stifling, The Bungalow outback serves wine and martinis for a more elegant night out, and during the summer months, the river-side porch hosts a party with steak and ribs served on Thursdays and steamers and lobster on Fridays.
Events for the next few weeks include The First Annual Beer Olympics and bands including Acacia Strain (Aug. 24) and Shadows Fall (Aug. 31).
The Waterfront Tavern is located at 920 Main St. in Holyoke. For more information call (413) 532-2292 or visit waterfronttavern.com.
