Having some trouble promoting your band for the contest? No worries. The Valley Advocate is here to help.
Create a call-to-action button on your band’s page that rallies your fans to vote for you.
Make sure to link it to our voting page! (http://bit.ly/1BMTjlI)
Post a link to the Grand Band Slam page one or two times a day.
You can schedule this ahead of time. It’s actually pretty easy — click the arrow next to publish and set a later date and time instead of hucking it onto Facebook right away.
If you’re feeling really crafty you can put our logo over your band photo. Attach that image to a post, use it as a cover photo, a profile picture… the possibilities are endless. Click the images below to download transparent TIFF versions of our logo in white or black.
We also have this snazzy image for you. Use it to tweet during the nomination phase!
Don’t forget to #VABandSlam15 and include a link to the voting page.
Twitter is also a great opportunity to use our crafty logos on band photos. Again: possibilities? Endless.
HANDOUTS
If you’re hoping to perform at the Grand Band Slam you’ve probably already got a few gigs coming up. Why not hand out some flyers telling people to vote for you? Click the image below to download a printable sheet of these babies.
Because you are, of course, every concert-goer’s favorite band.
E-MAIL BLAST
Continuing our sneaking suspicions about you lovely bands — have you got an e-mail list? Maybe you use it to send out newsletters to your fans once a month to update them on your music and upcoming shows. Or maybe you just use it every once in a while to promote big shows or new albums. If you have an e-mail list you’re probably already doing something cool with it.
So send your fans an e-mail about this contest. Grab one of the images we’ve provided above and the link to the voting page. Write a little something about why you want to be a part of the Grand Band Slam and rally the fan base. There are some pretty cool prizes at stake here, as well as a live event.
Having trouble figuring out what to say? Here’s a bit to get you started — but try not to go verbatim.
“Hey guys. Maybe you’ve heard, but the Valley Advocate Grand Band Slam Contest is back. This year there’s only one winner and popularity is the only yardstick they’re judging by. Prizes include recording sessions and even a concert for first place — and that’s not the live event on September 12, where four bands will battle for the crown. That is a whole extra concert.
Right now they’re in the voting phase, which is why we’re reaching out to you. We already made it through the first round of nominations and now we’re competing against 24 other bands! So if you like our music (and us!) we’d really appreciate it if you’d head over to the Grand Band Slam page and give us your vote. The top ten bands from this round will be pulled into a second round of voting, with music videos and biographies, and then it’s on to the live concert!”
