Far more difficult was figuring out how to come out as a marijuana enthusiast to my five-year-old daughter. Some may think a 5-year-old is too young to understand drugs and alcohol and why people use them, but my writing a marijuana column forced the issue. I couldn’t stand the idea of someone at school telling her, “your mom smokes weed” before I did.
