I and jake finally got out on the ice at card pond this weekend. as i have earlier mentioned, i have been saving a bucket of dead mice for the occasion when card pond wld lock up w/ ice and what w/ the temps being 40 below zero, that occasion was this weekend. i had ordered more ben gay from the ben gay company, and it came just in time. i do not know why anyone bothers w/ an ice awl when all you have to do is squirt a tube of ben gay on the ice and it will melt right under your feet. plus, there is something abt ben gay that when you rub it on a dead mouse makes that mouse irrestistable to pickerel and pike. both i and jake like a good pickerel sandwich or a stew w/ some pike in it and we werent out on the ice but 10 minutes before we had caught more than our limit of lunkers. i tell you what: these were some of the longest, meanest, toothiest pikes and pickerels you ever seen. and we caught a boatload, just like that. i know it is illegal to catch more than yr limit, but when it is 40 below and the wind is blowing i think you can pretty much catch whatever you want, especially when you like a good pickerel sandwhich.
In fact, I am enjoying a pickerel sandwich as i write this right this very minute!
