What’s better than masks, film, lions, pop-up books, sermons, puppets and music? How about all of the above, rolled into one multimedia extravaganza? Such is the promise of Southern Vermont’s GUTWorks theater company, which comes to the Valley this week to present its production This is the Place of Parting. Described by the Berkshire Review as “virtuosic, with extraordinary skill and imagination,” the production features an international cast, remote-controlled mice and live musical performance by the Brattleboro-based band Amargosa. Hailing itself as an “original adventure story,” the tale takes place in the year 2041. Written by award-winning playwright Neil Knox and directed by Daniel Burmester.
