Centuries after his death, Leonardo da Vinci is still considered a man of monumental genius, largely because of his mastery of widely varied fields. He was both a master painter and a revolutionary scientist, developing concepts including plans for a sort of helicopter and even a theory of plate tectonics. It is his blending of art and science that the symposium Reclaiming da Vinci: A Symposium of Art and Mathematics seeks to explore at the Williams College Museum of Art. Artist Alyson Shotz, origami artist Robert Lang and mathematics professor Edward Burger all speak to help put the show in context. A gallery viewing and reception follow.
