The tea bag contingent has declared war on the corporations that, they say, have backed Obama’s policies. It’s not a bad idea for them, but one wonders when they will notice that nearly all corporations donate money to both parties, and traditionally favor Republican policies, not progressive ones. If only the world was simpler.

One also wonders if they will notice a couple of glaring corporate problems that don’t benefit anyone, including them, things like the damaging notion that corporations possess the same legal rights as people, only without the same accountability. Or that corporations are in the habit of moving their “headquarters” to places like the Caribbean in order to avoid paying U.S. taxes, which those same tea partiers regularly have to pay.

The tea party seems rather like a disgrunted, especially thick elephant–ready to lash out, but unclear on the actual damage it’s doing. The Republicans have a deeply unreliable and unpredictable ally in these folks. They’re not exactly steerable. Should be interesting to watch.
