Friday is the first home game of the Springfield Armor’s second season.

The team, part of the NBA’s Development League, will play the Maine Red Claws at 7 p.m. at the MassMutual Center. Mayor Domenic Sarno will toss the ceremonial opening tip before the game, and Springfield’s Vanessa Ford will sing the National Anthem. The team will be giving out magnets with the year’s schedule.

The two teams will face off again the following day, Nov. 27, at noon.

The Armor will play a 50-game schedule between now and April, with 24 home dates. Tickets—which begin at $5—can be bought at the MassMutual Center Box Office at 1277 Main St., online at www.armorhoops.com or www.ticketmaster.com, or by calling 800-745-3000.

The Armor’s freshman season was not especially pretty: The team ended with a 7-43 record, the worst in the league’s history. That means there’s nowhere to go but up, right?
