Northampton’s Hosmer Gallery (inside the Forbes Library) offers an intriguing abundance of art this month. For the series “Curatorial 365,” Easthampton’s Leslie Tane (whose work is pictured) created a 4×6-inch postcard every day during 2014. Each was crafted around a phrase from the essays she also read every day.

Photographer and newspaper editor Greg Saulmon’s work focuses on the birds of downtown Holyoke, a flock that includes a surprising number of falcons, owls, and warblers. His photos capture the birds in action in the city’s urban center.
Lastly, the Hosmer offers a collection of prison folk art. A testament to the unstoppable urge to creativity, the collection includes things like toothpick art, soap carvings, and drawings on handkerchiefs and envelopes.

All three exhibitions: July 2-30, Hosmer Gallery, Forbes Library, 20 West St., Northampton, (413) 587-1011, forbeslibrary.org.
