Getting Down to Brass Tracks

The Primate Fiasco evolves faster than you can say “social Darwinism.” Members come and go, and the band’s sound has changed a lot over the years, but never so much as in the past year and a half. With new members and new instruments, The Primate Fiasco is no longer a dixieland band that sometimes gets funky — it’s a full-flavored implosion of Americana and electronica that its members call “ADM,” or “acoustic dance music.” These players are usually on the road, drawing big crowds out West and headlining festivals in the mid-Atlantic, but now they’re back for a hometown show at the Iron Horse. Come out to greet this strange, fun, revamped animal in its natural habitat.

The Primate Fiasco, with Mamma’s Marmalade: Saturday, April 2, 10 p.m. $10 advance; $13 at the door. Iron Horse Music Hall, 21 Center St., Northampton, (413) 586-8686.
