Positively Potted
The Connecticut River Valley — which was sometimes called the “asparagus valley” back in the ’70s — is home to a crafty nexus of nationally-known professional potters. Over the past 12 years, the annual Asparagus Valley Pottery Trail has grown into quite the springtime destination event, drawing hundreds of visitors and collectors from all over New England. This year, nine studios showcase the work of 22 potters, including tableware, sculpture, and architectural tiles. All nine studios will have work for sale, and some will offer demonstrations. The tour is self-guided — just go online to download a map, and look for the yellow signs along the road.
Asparagus Valley Pottery Trail: April 30 and May 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free. All ages. Various locations around Northampton/Amherst, Greenfield, and Shelburne Falls. asparagusvalleypotterytrail.com
