SVETLANA BOYM: EXILE AND IMAGINATION
Celebrating the legacy of literary and cultural critic Svetlana Boym who passed away in 2015, Exile and Imagination traces Boym’s life from when she left the USSR for the US in 1980. After her graduate studies, she became professor of Slavic and Comparative Literature at Harvard. Director Judith Wechsler interweaves videos, interviews, photographs with Boym’s original texts and film excerpts. Weschler’s documentary pays tribute to Boym life and achievements. There will be an introduction by Catherine Portuges, and the director Judith Wechsler will be present for discussion. 7:30 p.m. 137 Isenberg School of Management, UMass Amherst.
